Frequently asked questions.
Why can’t I clean it myself?
While it might seem cost-effective to have your own team handle kitchen exhaust cleaning, there are critical safety, compliance, and performance reasons why this job should be left to trained professionals:
1. Fire Risk
Commercial exhaust systems accumulate highly flammable grease in hard-to-reach places—inside ducts, fans, and vertical shafts. Inadequate cleaning by untrained staff can leave behind hidden grease that fuels dangerous fires.
2. Specialized Equipment & Chemicals
Certified professionals use high-powered degreasers, steam units, and pressure washers designed specifically for commercial exhaust systems. These tools are not available in typical kitchens and are essential for a complete, code-compliant cleaning.
3. NFPA 96 Compliance
Fire codes (like NFPA 96) require that exhaust systems be cleaned by qualified professionals. DIY cleaning can result in failed inspections, insurance coverage issues, or even liability in the event of a fire.
4. Safety Hazards
Cleaning exhaust hoods, ducts, and rooftop fans involves working at heights, dealing with slippery grease, and accessing tight spaces. This exposes untrained employees to injury risks and potential workers’ comp claims.
5. Proper Documentation
A certified hood cleaning company provides the documentation required for passing fire inspections and maintaining insurance coverage.
How often should my kitchen exhaust system be cleaned?
The frequency depends on your cooking volume. Many of our customers are busy enough that they require us to clean their hood every 3 months. But 6 months or even annually may be appropriate for certain businesses. We can help assess and recommend the right cleaning schedule.
What exactly do you clean during service?
We clean the entire exhaust system, including: hoods, filters, interior ductwork, fooftop exhaust fans. Every cleaning includes a full inspection for fire hazards and grease buildup.
Do you provide certification or proof of cleaning?
Yes. You will receive: certificate of performance (NFPA 96 compliant), dated service sticker placed on your hood, before-and-after photos for your records and for inspectors’ review.
Are you certified and insured?
Yes. We are fully certified, licensed, and insured, and we follow NFPA 96 fire safety standards.
Do you offer emergency or rush services?
Yes. We offer emergency cleanings, especially if you're facing an inspection, insurance audit, or fire marshal visit. Same-day or next-day service may be available.
